parameter for CSV import: Columns escaped by

You are trying to import some DATA with phpmyAdmin 3.5, the input screen contains a field called “Columns escaped with:”. I usually leave the default “\” backslash in there, however; my data contained backslashes so I couldn’t use the default backslash. My data also contained !@#$%^& and every other character in the ascii set. 

The character I ended up using was “\r”. Yes, good old return since my datafile came from a windows pc it worked fine.
